Fractional CTO / CPTO / Advisor

Growing teams rarely have one clean problem. Process, architecture, foundations and hiring all move at once. Bringing them into harmony is the work I do, and the work I like most.

  • Still hands on. I read the code, sit in the architecture calls, and own both the hiring bar and the standard the team is held to.
  • Choosing the architecture is the easy half. I have led the other half, where a team changes how it works and keeps shipping while it does.
  • I left an SLT seat by choice, not by layoff, so I can flex around your crunch weeks.

Request an intro call

Five questions, so the first call starts with the situation rather than the basics.

Your company domain, not a personal one.
What you want to walk away from the call knowing, and enough about the org for me to have a real answer ready.

Client engagements only, including on behalf of a CEO. Not for full-time or contract-to-hire recruitment.

For engineering leaders

Interview preparation

One round decides most engineering leadership offers, and it is not the system design. It is the hour with the hiring manager. That is the round I prepare you for, and the only one I take.

  • Technical and system design prep is everywhere online. The hiring manager hour is the nebulous part, and in a crowded market it is where the offer is decided.
  • The AI tooling is not there yet for this. You can spend three days with Granola and Claude and still not know how a hiring manager reads you.
  • I prepare you the way I would evaluate you, because I have written the rubric and made the call.
